Healthy Dimensions offers programs in childbirth education designed to meet the needs of the healthcare professional involved in perinatal education. This comprehensive, interactive program takes into account the professional’s previous theoretical and practical experience with childbirth education. Healthy Dimensions now offers three exciting childbirth education courses that may be offered at your site or one of ours. Select the program that best meets your certification or continuing education needs and we will present it at your facility. Courses are taught by instructors with clinical expertise in maternal child health nursing and advanced skills in childbirth education and maternity fitness.

PREPARATION IN CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION CERTIFICATION – for the nurse/ PT seeking certification in CB Education.

* Requirements: Open to all RN’s, GN’s, Senior Nursing Students, LPN’s, PT’s and other healthcare professionals.
o Recommended readings
o Completion of pre-assigned topics
o Observe and/or teach a series of childbirth education classes
o Attend entire course – Days 1 & 2 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM and Day 3 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM (times may be changed).
o Pass a comprehensive exam at end of program
* Recertification: Earned every 3 years through submission of 18 hours of recognized continuing education

PREPARATION IN CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION COURSE (no certification)

PRE AND POST NATAL FITNESS CERTIFICATION: Incorporating Exercise into Your Program – for the nurse or physical therapist seeking certification in maternity fitness

* Topics:

o Exercising During Pregnancy – Goals and Benefits
o Considerations of Pre and Post Natal Fitness Classes

PRE AND POST NATAL FITNESS EDUCATOR COURSE (no certification)

* Requirements: Open to all RN’s, GN’s, Senior Nursing Students, LPN’s, PT’s and other healthcare professionals.
o Attend 1 ½ day course
* Recertification: not applicable
* Continuing Education Credit: As above; 11.9 contact hours offered through the Florida Board of Nursing and 11 contact hours are offered through the DE Examining Board of Physical Therapy. Credits may be applied towards ACSM certification.

BREASTFEEDING EDUCATOR CERTIFICATION – for the healthcare professional seeking education to facilitate the support of breastfeeding

* Topics:
o Historical and societal perspectives of breastfeeding
o Role of healthcare professional in educating the new mother
o Identify and promote the benefits of breastfeeding anatomy and physiology of breast
o Process of breastfeeding
o Guidelines for successful breastfeeding
* Requirements: Open to all RN’s, GN’s, Senior Nursing Students, LPN’s, PT’s and other healthcare professionals.

Distance learning programs are also available as a convenient, cost effective way to obtain continuing education credits for the health care professional.
